Chicago Auto Show: 2008 Scion xB and all new Scion XD leak on the web

.fullpost{display:inline;} Starting with the 2008 xB that’s based on a new platform, although it retains the boxy shape of its xA based predecessor, Scions youth-mobile has received a few curves here and there –how else would it diverse itself from the previous model? Maybe the most significant change for its buyers is the new 2.4-litre, 158Hp strong engine that replace the 103Hp 1.5-litre

Chicago Auto Show: 2008 Scion xB with a 2.4-liter 158Hp engine

Although it retains its characteristic match-box shape, the 2008 Scion xB is an all new model that’s based on a larger platform and equipped with a 2.4-liter engine with an output of 158Hp. That’s a significant upgrade from the 103Hp 1.5-litre motor that was fitted on the previous xB. Apart from the stock version, Scion released images of a customized 2008 xB.-Continued: Click “Read More…” below

Chicago Auto Show: 2008 Scion xD - Official Press Release & Images

There goes the xA, here comes the xD. Scion’s new compact hatch is based on the Yaris platform and it’s offered with a 1.8 L four-cylinder engine with dual Variable Valve Timing putting out 128 horsepower that combines with a five-speed manual transmission or a four-speed automatic transmission. As with the xB, Scion released pics of a customized xD. PS: Is it me or is the xD’s rear end styling

Chicago Auto Show: 2008 Scion tC

Nothing more than a “light” facelift that includes minor changes in the front fascia (grille, dark headlamps etc), new rear light clusters and a few extras ticks in the equipment list (iPod Connectivity). Here’s an interesting thought though that just came up to me. Since Toyota stopped the production of Celica and MR2 models in Europe, why not compensate with the tC? I mean, with a smaller

Tokyo Show: Scion xB - Toyota Corolla Rumion Concept

Kanto Auto Works presented a drop-top version of the JDM Scion xB (sold as the Toyota Corolla Rumion in Japan) at the Tokyo Show. Dubbed as the “Rumion XO”, the rebadged Scion xB features among other things an electric powered sliding canvas top that covers the whole length of the roof including the rear window (like the Citroen C3 Pluriel but without the removable arches). The sliding canvas top

2007 SEMA: Scion xD Dalek Speedster

Wow, doesn’t this concept look like someone simply chopped the roof off a Scion xD? Now that we mention it, someone actually did. Of course, just by saying that we wouldn’t do justice to the work that went behind the transformation of the 2008 xD into a speedster. The Dalek Scion xD features tons of accessories like the fully hidden interior roll-cage, the hand-carved beechwood trim and the

SEMA: Scion xB L-Con City Safari Pick-Up

Toyota’s American offspring is all about body conversions at this year’s SEMA show. Along with the xD Dalek speedster Scion also presented the Sage Vaughn xB L-Con City Safari concept –we’ll call it xB pick-up for short. Unfortunately, Scion hasn’t released many details on the xB pick-up but hey, it’s not as if you’re ever going to see any of these roaming around the streets of Manhattan or

SEMA: Scion tC by Artist Ron English

Ron English, a New York-based painter, billboard liberator, and toy designer has collaborated with Scion and several tuners to create a somewhat different customized tC Coupe. Painted in a custom purple pearl color and featuring electroluminescent lighting animating Ron English's ying-yang artwork the tC is unique in its own weird way. And because this is SEMA and not an art gallery, the tC sits

SEMA: Scion xD Widebody by Five Axis Design

Now here’s a Scion xD that I wouldn’t actually mind seeing parked in my garage –well, if I had a garage, that is. The widebody kit is beautifully integrated to the xD which is painted in a vigorous Papaya Orange color. The kit is complemented by 20-inch alloy wheels in 245/30 R20 Yokohama rubber up front and 295/25 R20 in the rear.As you can see in the detailed list after the jump, Scion’s

Inside, the xB features a Gold Rush Mica

Chicago Show: Scion tC RS 4.0 Live Pics

Despite the various problems we had with our photo cameras (the good one decided to take a permanent vacation, the spare one was on-off both days), we did manage to take pictures of the tC RS 4.0 that was on display in the Scion booth at the Chicago Auto Show. And good thing we did as Scion released just one image of the car (see here). In a nutshell, the Release Series 4.0 (RS) features a tasty

Scion Hako Concept Live Pics from NY: With a Face Only a Mother Could Love…

Scion calls it the Hako Concept but we can think of a dozen or adjectives that could do the work like unattractive; unsightly; hideous; revolting; repulsive; horrible; dreadful; obnoxious; nasty; horrid; unpleasant; terrible and of course, just plain ugly. Then again, Scion’s vice president Jack Hollis gave the best description of the Hako: “This concept is the sporty version of a box”….

Scion Hacked Coupe Concept: Follow the Orange-Brick Road...

...back to the drawing board. If there’s one car at this year’s New York Auto Show that won all of our negative votes for its appearance, that’s definitely the Scion Hako Concept. Part hot-rod, part box, the Hako shares more similarities with an orange brick on wheels than it does to a coupe. Having that in mind, we decided to photo-hack Scion’s concept by dressing its body with what else, but

Scion Launches Website That Lets Users Create Custom Coat Of Arms

In collaboration with the New York based StrawberryFrog advertising and marketing agency, Scion has launched a new website called “Scion Speak” that lets users design custom coat of arms that can be then downloaded and turned into a window decal or even have them professionally painted onto their cars. Users can choose among hundreds of professionally designed symbols ranging from a yin-yang

Daihatsu Dealer Dresses Euro Scion With “Wow Dude, It’s a Materia” Livery

Who’d ever believe that the Euro version of the Scion xB could bring on such passion! Well, apparently no one except for the Daihatsu Lynx dealer of Yeovil Somerset in the UK. “We all sat down and brainstormed how to promote this quirky car and I came up with the idea of a psychedelic theme,” said Aftersales Manager, Nick Morgan. He added: “The inspiration was a pop video on YouTube called ‘

Scion Presents 400Hp Rear-Wheel-Drive tC Coupe for Formula Drift

The good news is that Scion has developed a rear-wheel drive version of its compact coupe, the tC. The bad news for all us RWD-lovers is that the RS*R tC was created to compete in Formula Drift events and not to go on sale for the public to enjoy. The conversion, that was performed by aftermarket specialist, RS*R, was able to be done thanks to the fact that the tC shares its platform with

Scion Hikes 2009 Prices for xB by $100, tC Remains Unaffected

Toyota’s American sibling Scion, announced prices for the 2009 model year xB and tC sports coupe. The boxy xB that will arrive at dealerships later this month will carry a base price of $15,750 when equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and $16,700 for the 4-speed automatic with sequential shifting. Prices for both configurations represent an increase of $100 or 0.6 percent for those of you
