Modified Cars
It's common practice for motoring enthusiasts to be penalised by their car insurer for modifying their vehicle. Whether its alloy wheels, an upgraded exhaust system, a performance enhancing engine chip or even privacy glass, the end result equates to higher risk, and in turn this leads to higher premiums.
However, with a little research you can make vehicle modifications work for you - and secure reasonably priced car insurance.
Most insurance companies enforce higher premiums on modified cars because they carry a higher risk. For example, a car with expensive alloy wheels is more likely to be a target for theft than a conventional vehicle.
Many young drivers, dubbed 'boy racers', have also given custom car owners a bad name by fitting induction kits, upgraded exhaust systems and powerful ICE (in-car entertainment) systems before cruising the streets in what can best be described as an anti-social manner.
So the emphasis is on the driver to prove their 'risk' is low to the insurer.
One method is to agree to a mileage limit. Many modified cars are driven occasionally rather than everyday, and the majority are rarely on the road during rush hour. If you prove to your insurer that you only drive the car for social or pleasure use, rather than commuting, you can reduce your premiums.
Another tip is to reduce the risk of theft by parking your car in a sceure garage overnight. Also ensure that you fit locking nuts on to alloy wheels. Fitting a tracker is also an insurer-friendly option, and although it may cost around £700, you will recoup the cost in your next few years worth of car insurance premiums.
Approach specialist car insurance companies too - there are many that cater specifically for modified vehicles and that may be able to offer quotes to motorists who may not find deals elsewhere.
Aston Martin Super Sport ( LIMITED EDITION )
Limited Edition Aston Martin Super Sport After the very powerful Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, we have with us the Aston Martin Super Sport Limited Edition supercar, which will sell for a whopping €7,500,000 (approx. US $9,668,750). Only eight examples of the supercar will be developed and produced in cooperation with Star Electric Cars France. The sports car will get its power from a twin-turbocharged 5.4-liter V8 engine delivering up to 950bhp. The engine has been mated to a six-speed manual transaxle, which is synced with an integral, torque-sensing, helical limited-slip differential. An F1 paddle shift gearbox is available as an option. The Aston Martin Super Sport Limited Edition will come with powder coated exhaust system, Brembo or AP carbon ceramic brakes and the in-trend carbon fiber bodywork.
This is the new limited edition Aston Martin Super Sport! As far as we know the British car manufacturer has not revealed any addition to its line-up, so it has to be a coachbuild project.
So it is! The car pictured above is being developed and produced by Star Electric Cars France. They are a car designer licensed to create luxury electric golf cars resembling brands like Rolls Royce, Bentley, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, and Porsche. They also design unique cars built for presidents, kings and princes around the world. It seems they have started a new project; a ‘normal’ sports car named the Aston Martin Super Sport.
2011 Shelby Roush SR-71 Mustang Sold $375,000!

For the first time ever Carroll Shelby and Jack Roush are teaming up to create a one off Mustang for charity! According to a recently published article by Roush Performance, both Shelby and Roush have met with Ford Motor Company to design and engineer the 2011 SR-71 Mustang which will go up for auction at the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Airventure Aviation Show. All proceeds from the auction will go to support the EAA’s Young Eagles program.
Ford Motor Company has been a proud supporter of EAA and the Young Eagles for the past 15 years by providing various vehicles and donations each year to be raffled and auctioned off. Last year Ford created the AV-X10 Mustang which sold at auction for $250,000. The year prior Ford built another one-of-a-kind Mustang for the Airventure show, the 2008 AV8R Mustang. The AV8R was named after the famous P-51 fighter plane, which played a key role in World War II as a bomber escort. It sold for an amazing $500,000! In 2006 Ford and Shelby donated a Shelby GT-H Mustang, which sold for $250,000.
The 2011 SR-71 Mustang was inspired by the SR71 "Blackbird" spy plane built by Lockheed Martin in the 60s, an airplane that holds the world record for the fastest air breathing manned aircraft in history. The SR-71 Mustang will be packed with tons of unique features including a Whipple Twin Screw Supercharger atop it's 5.0L V8 engine and Carroll's and Jack's signatures embroidered on the seats. The auction for the SR-71 Mustang will take place on July 29th at 7:30 PM CST at the EAA Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
2011 Mercedes-Benz CLS Leaked Official Shots

As expected, the new Mercedes-Benz CLS takes a lot of its styling cues from Benz's Shooting Break concept (they're name, not ours) notably the upright grille and more aggressive front fascia. The sectioned-off headlamp design has also remained intact, and from these photo-realistic renderings, it looks like someone shot the CLS in the eyes with lemon juice. Still, we're eager to see how this mix of LEDs looks out on the road at dusk. The CLS also uses the more shapely rear hips of the Shooting Break concept, rounding out the revised rear end. It's certainly more stylish than the outgoing CLS, which says a lot.
